Our Story
A Journey of Friendship and Passion for Nutrition
Meet Maylene Ferreira and Cianté Pienaar, two dietitians whose friendship blossomed on the very first day of university. From that moment, they became inseparable, bound by a shared passion for nutrition and health.
A friendship going for nine years and counting, Maylene and Cianté studied together, completed internships side by side, did their Masters degrees and supported each other through the highs and lows of life. They’ve shared countless laughs, shed a few tears, and celebrated each other’s successes along the way.
Now, they’ve brought their love for nutrition and their deep bond into their practice, Seed to Sprout Dietitians. Here, they combine their knowledge and experience with a holistic approach to health, helping others nourish their bodies and lead balanced, healthy lives.
Join them on this journey of wellness and discover the power of nutrition, backed by friendship, passion, and a holistic perspective.
What does SEED stand for?
S – SLEEP: Quality sleep is the foundation of good health. It affects everything from your energy levels to your metabolism. You get the most oxygen while you sleep. If you don’t sleep enough (hours/ quality) your oxygen levels are affected, this leads to poor energy and concentration, mood changes, increased risk for heart diseases and diabetes and weight gain.
S – STRESS: How you manage stress can significantly impact your overall well-being. Unhealthy stress can lead to mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, digestive issues, headaches, muscle tension and pain, heart diseases, sleep problems, weight gain, and memory and concentration impairment.
E – ENVIRONMENT: Your everyday environment can have a huge impact on your physical and mental health. If you’re in a less-than-ideal living environment, it’s likely that you’re constantly feeling stressed, and you may find it harder to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Creating a supportive, positive environment helps you stay motivated and on track with your goals.
E – EXERCISE: Movement is essential for a healthy body and mind. Regular exercise boosts your energy, improves your mood, reduces stress and supports your overall health and risk for chronic conditions.
D – DIET: Of course, nutrition is at the heart of what we do. A balanced diet tailored to your needs is vital for nourishing your body and fueling your life. Food is something that brings people together let’s keep it that way.
Your Path to Success: Take time to focus on each aspect of SEED and identify what might be holding you back from reaching your full potential. Remember, to succeed in your diet and nutritional goals, it’s essential to also pay attention to the quality of your sleep, how you handle stress, the healthiness of your environment, and the consistency of your movement.
